what is barn hunt?
Barn Hunt is a competitive dog sport in which dogs are able to act out their natural prey instincts in a safe and humane way. Domestic trained rats are placed in protective PVC tubes and are hidden on a straw bale course. Dogs and handlers work together to beat the clock to find all the rats. Teams can earn titles and ribbons as well! Barn Hunt titles are recognized by the AKC. To learn more about this fun and growing sport, visit the Barn Hunt Association web page.

group classes
Group classes are the recommended step after the try-it. Classes are organized in 2 levels. Beginner dogs start at the novice/open level where they are hunting between 1-3 rats. The advanced class is geared toward dogs working on senior/master level skills. There is also an all level class offered on Thursday evenings. Each team will get 3 working time slots. During this time you will receive coaching and tips to improve your skills and reach your team’s full potential. Group classes are also a fantastic way to watch other teams and to meet others who love barn hunt as much as you do!

one on one
One on one lessons are intended to be supplement to weekly classes but can also be a great way for your dog to practice hunting in a new location if you take classes elsewhere. The great thing about one on one lessons is that it is 100% customized for you and your dog. In your one on one time, we can work on specific issues like tunneling, building stronger alerts, litter hitting, building confidence, handing off the rats, or other specific concerns. One on one time is limited and is not regularly offered. Group classes are highly recommended for consistent weekly practice and training to get the best results.
