The Classroom

I’ve had the privilege of teaching in many locations around North Kitsap over the past few years, which is represented in the variety of photos you’ll see on the website. RED DOG sports now has a permanent home! I am so thrilled to be offering classes in this amazing new space. It has been a dream for years to be able to offer a high quality training environment to the community and it’s finally here. The classroom space is 40x56 and is outfitted in 3/4 in rubber flooring. The large garage doors provide a convertible space when weather is cooperative but can be closed in during our wet and windy days. The classroom is a multipurpose space used for one on one lessons, agility foundations, and group classes.

The Agility Arena

The agility area is outdoors (for now…plans in the work for covering….woohoo!!!) and is a full competition size at 9,800 square feet (70ftx140ft). The footing is padded sport turf geared for both canine and handler comfort and safety. The contacts and tunnels are from Galican and are made for outdoor use, even when damp. This space is for upper level agility foundations and for dogs putting together coursework. Intro classes take place in the classroom. The classroom space is also used for advanced dogs on wet or windy days. No need to cancel for the weather!

The barn is a converted 7 stall horse barn that now houses 2 rings built to barn hunt association standards. The larger ring set at 24x30 is sized for masters and crazy 8’s. The small ring is set at 22x22 and is sized for instinct, novice, open, and senior. The flooring is rubber matting for dog’s safety jumping on an off straw bales. We host 4 trials per year and are so excited to be offering this super fun sport to the Olympic Peninsula. Those who are interested in training are encouraged and welcome to come observe a lesson and tour the facility.

The Barn

And last but definitely not least, we have 2 off leash areas available for use before and/or after your lesson time or during a trial. We feel dogs do best when they are able to move, sniff, decompress, and be a dog! Feel free to come to your lesson time 15-20 minutes early and allow your dog to acclimate, potty, and get out any zoomies before your lesson time. I have a lesson I tell all my students, “Your dog has basic needs, food and water are the most obvious. But sniffing and motion are as essential to your dog as food and water. If we do not freely give our dogs basic needs, they will take them. It’s usually at a time we don’t want them to, like during a lesson time.” You can significantly increase the success of your lesson time by coming early and fulfilling basic needs before asking your dog to engage, learn, and work.

The Off-Leash Areas

Those who are interested in training are encouraged and welcome to come observe a lesson and tour the facility. Feel free to reach out to alanna@reddog-training.com to set up an appointment time.

Happy Training!
