*We don’t believe that all dogs need to be “nice” in order to participate in classes but we do prioritize neutrality. Whether your dog is social butterfly or appreciates their personal space, we are happy to accept them. That being said, dogs with personal space bubbles or dogs who are intent on making every dog their friend need to have a neutrality bubble of 5-10 feet. This means your dog is not provoked to react (in fear or excitement) if an unknown dogs are within 5-10 feet when on leash. This might mean you need to use chew toys, lick mats, or substantially more treats than your neighbor. That’s ok! We are happy to meet you where you are. Dogs are not expected to be robots and we do understand big feelings might pop out on occasion. What we are looking for is that you are quickly able to disrupt that behavior and get your dog back on track quickly and efficiently. We want all teams to feel safe and welcomed here. We ask all handlers to be present, engaged, and actively working on maintaining neutral behavior on property. It is your job to help your dog be successful. Dogs who are not receptive to management techniques to maintain neutrality within 5-10 feet of space are encouraged to seek out one on one help before joining group classes.
