what’s the deal with scent work?
Scent Work is one of the fastest growing dog sport in the US and it’s easy to see why. Scent Work is incredibly accessible for both dogs and handlers. It can be practiced in a wide variety of public spaces, requires very little in terms of equipment, and does not require any high impact for dogs or handlers. Scent Work is an amazing sport to build confidence, to provide enrichment and mental stimulation, and to build a strong working relationship between dog and handler.

what kind of classes are offered?
Scent work classes are offered on Wednesday’s and range from introduction to odor to master level. Classes are held both indoors in our classroom space or in the outdoor areas surrounding when working on exterior hides and odor detection. Dogs are introduced to their first odor, Birch, and Anise, Clove, and Cypress are added as dogs and handlers progress in their skills together as a team. Classes are taught by Patty Michak who is an AKC scent work judges as well as an active competitor with her mix breed, Stevie.
